Gone to the dogs

Our family including the dogs

Our dogs are important members of our family and often come with us to Anna Maria Island. Both of our cottages are dog friendly (provided certain conditions are met such as proof of flea and tick treatment.)

Where to take the dogs

Dog-friendly activities

Dogs are not permitted on Anna Maria Island beaches but here are a few things you can do with your dog.

- Take your pup for a swim. Dogs are allowed on the beach on the Palma Sola Causeway located between the mainland and Anna Maria Island along Manatee Avenue. This strip of beach is very close to the roadway so be sure to keep control of your pet.
- Walk the trails of Robinson Preserve, a 600+ acre marshland and mangrove forested park located a few minutes drive from Anna Maria Island on Manatee Avenue.
- Enjoy the leash-free park on Flotilla Drive behind the EMS Station and the Skate park. There is a separate fenced in section for small dogs only. There are some shaded pavilions and tap water available to re-fill your dog’s water container.

Dog beaches

Across the Bay there are a couple of dog friendly beaches -  Fort De Soto Dog Beach Park in Saint Petersburg and  Pass A Grille Dog Beach in St Pete Beach.

Anna Maria Island is like a second home to our dogs and was actually the first home to our little dog Chooee who we adopted when his Holmes Beach owner passed away.
